For the bride, perfect wedding day makeup can be a more impossible task than finding the perfect dress. Whether the bride wants her makeup to be natural looking or flawless, it should be long lasting and enhance natural beauty rather than hide it. Here are some pointers to work with when preparing and applying wedding makeup:
- Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water (at least 2 litres a day) to flush out impurities
- If you would like a facial, have it at least two weeks before the day
- Have eyebrows shaped at least a week before the wedding to avoid nasty red bumps on the day
- A light application of powder will help set makeup and prevent shine
- Use a neutral coloured lip lining pencil to prolong lipstick stay, and apply a light layer of powder over the top
- Wear waterproof mascara in case of tears
- If you discover a pimple on the big day, do not squeeze it. A droplet of visene will remove the redness and you can cover it with concealer and foundation
- Avoid glittery or frosted shadows, they do not photograph well and may look greasy
- Keep your powder, lipstick and mascara nearby in case you need a touch up
